Teenage Crossroads: Three Stories from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s.

Polari Magazine presents an evening of readings with Kerry Hudson, Clayton Littlewood and Christopher Bryant.

It’s a FREE event, so just rock on up!

The three writers will talk about their struggle as young adults to come to terms with their identity, how they experienced a turning point in that struggle, and the part that sexuality played.

Kerry Hudson, whose novel ‘Tony Hogan Bought Me an Ice-Cream Float Before He Stole My Ma’ won the 2013 Scottish First Book Award, will about coming out as a queer working class woman, and a subject all too often absent from LGBT History Month: bisexuality.

Clayton Littlewood, author of the uproarious chronicles ‘Dirty White Boy: Tales of Soho’ and ‘Goodbye To Soho’, will recall how he dreamed of leaving his home in Weston-super-Mare when he was a teen and heading for Soho, the land of prostitutes, street cleaners, transsexuals, bag ladies and shoplifters.

Christopher Bryant, the editor of Polari Magazine and author of ‘In The Life: A Comic Romp Through the History of Polari’, was outed when he was 17, and he will talk about the havoc this caused, in both good ways and bad, in his Boy’s Grammar School.

The talk is followed by a Q&A, as well as a chance to talk to the writers.

Tuesday 18th Feb, 2014. 8pm to 9:30pm
